Race Season Is Upon Us! Here is What I’m up to.
First let me apologize for taking so long to post my schedule. I was out training and enjoying this beautiful weather, finally!
I have an action packed race season ahead in The Multisport Canada Recharge With Milk Triathlon Series! The first Sprint Duathlon of the year will be in Woodstock, Ontario at the Pittock conservation area on June.11th which just happens to be my birthday! This is a new race for me, with what looks like fast, run and bike courses that will be a great place for me to work the kinks out and test my overall performance. Thanks to Rob at Bladecarbonwheels.com ( The official wheel of the Canadian National Cycling Team and Cycling Canada) I will be able to test out his Rear full carbon disc along with a front full carbon five spoke at the first two races of the year, permitting the wind is manageable to keep me on the road safely. Blade Carbon Wheels provide both, new custom wheel orders, as well as race wheel set rentals at a very affordable price and will be an onsite vendor at the up coming Woodstock and Welland Triathlon’s.
My next race will be in my home town of Welland, at the Rose City Triathlon on June.25th. This will be the first year that Multisport Canada will adopt the Welland International Flat Water centre as the race site moving forward. The Sprint Duathlon distance for this race will be altered to 2.5k run/ 20k bike/ 5 k run to make a much more exciting finish alongside the triathletes! I am really looking forward to this one. The Run course is along the beautiful Welland canal recreational trail and the bike course runs through Dain city and Wellandport as you head out of town on the fast and flat feeder Rd. Multisport Canada could use as many volunteers as possible. If you are able to lend a hand on either the 25th or the 26th for the long course Triathlon please contact me for details on how to sign up! firstname.lastname@example.org
My next race will be at the very unique Toronto Island Triathlon on August. 21st. Having been to Toronto Island many times for leisure, this will be a fast flat race along beautiful Lake Ontario. I can’t wait!
My next race will be in gorgeous, Wasaga Beach for the Wasaga Beach Triathlon on August.28th. This Race is a special one for me as I get to make it a weekend getaway for my wife, daughter and I! We had such a wonderful time last year that this will be a staple in my schedule for the years to come. The run course is flat and fast throughout the residential area surrounding the beach with a start/finish located right on the beach Boardwalk. The bike course is a demanding one, but lots of opportunity to make up time on the rolling hills. This has got to be my favourite race so far in the entire series.
My last stop in the Sprint Duathlon Series will be in Lakeside, Ontario just outside of Woodstock for the Lakeside Triathlon on Sept.11th. This race is a tough one. The run course is on rolling uneven dirt roads through the rural area surrounding Lakeside. The bike course heads out of town along the countryside on rolling hills with a strong crosswind that rips across the farmers fields. It was very overcast and windy in 2015 so hopefully we get better conditions for this race.
Multisport Canada has a variety of races for everyone from a beginner looking to try there first Triathlon, Duathlon, swim/bike or relay. If you are looking to give it a shot and race local, please visit multisportcanada.com .
My last and final race of 2016 will be taking on the Centurion 2 day stage road race located in Blue Mountains of Collingwood, Ontario on Sept.17 (80km) Sept.18th (40km). I have been itching for a road race like this for years and I feel I’m ready to take on the challenge. If anyone would like information on any of the races above please do not hesitate to contact me. Let the race season begin!!
